Reindalen is one of the largest and most wildlife-rich valleys in Svalbard, and one of the most rewarding areas to explore by snowmobile.
This full-day expedition takes you deep into a vast, open Arctic landscape where the scale of nature becomes truly overwhelming. Here, Svalbard reindeer, a unique subspecies found nowhere else in the world, roam freely across the valley, perfectly adapted to this harsh and isolated environment.
The journey itself is long, varied, and immersive. You’ll travel across frozen rivers, through wide valleys, and over untouched snowfields that stretch as far as the eye can see. This is the kind of terrain where distances feel infinite and the true remoteness of the Arctic becomes tangible.
You can either drive your own snowmobile or, if you are booking with more than one person, choose to share one (with the possibility to swap drivers along the way), making the experience flexible and accessible for everyone.
Wildlife encounters are highly likely, especially with Svalbard reindeer, which are often seen calmly moving through the valley or grazing in small groups. Their presence adds a quiet, authentic connection to the landscape that makes this tour especially memorable.
Midway through the expedition, we stop for a proper lunch in the wilderness, surrounded by complete silence and the vast openness of Reindalen. With no signs of civilization in sight, it’s a moment to fully disconnect and take in the raw beauty of the Arctic.
Bring your own camera and tripod to capture the scenery and wildlife. If you don’t have one, your guide will take professional photos during the tour, which will be available for purchase afterward in digital format.
