1 February - 15 may

After months of polar night, Svalbard slowly returns to the light. February begins in deep Arctic blue, with soft daylight creeping over the horizon, while March paints the sky in shifting pastel tones of pink, purple, and gold. By April, the sun stays above the horizon, marking the start of endless bright days.

This is the true expedition season.

With stable snow conditions and increasing daylight, it’s the perfect time to travel far into the wilderness. Snowmobile journeys take you across vast valleys, frozen fjords, and powerful glacier fronts, places that feel completely untouched.

Wildlife is never far away. Svalbard reindeer are commonly seen across the landscape, Arctic foxes roam the valleys, and if luck is on your side, you may even witness the presence of a polar bear in the distance.

Early in the season, there’s still a chance to catch the northern lights dancing above, while later months welcome the return of migratory birds and a landscape that feels more alive with each passing day.
